A superb, comfortable, charming hotel in the heart of Gouda

Pros: The hotel is charming, with gorgeous, cozy, comfortable rooms. The staff is great, the location perfect, and cleanliness is impeccable throughout.

Cons: The only reason I give it a 9 and not a 10 is that the breakfast was somewhat disappointing in that the menu was promising, but the quality of the food was not quite up to it. Otherwise, the room in which it was served was spectacular and it was still an enjoyable moment, just not on par with the otherwise high standards of the establishment.

A very elegant and luxurious place to stay.

Pros: Lovely large, comfortable room. Beautiful surroundings and location. Breakfast was presented in a really appealing way, with multiple options, both cooked or chilled. Cooked options were separately ordered. The outdoor area was really attractively decorated, inviting and luxurious. We were able to store our touring bikes safely and securely, a great bonus.

Cons: Booking in the restaurant seemed overly complicated, and 3 or 4 course menus being the only option due to the nature of the fine dine experience.

Place worth visiting

Pros: The accommodation overall was good, room spacious and staff at reception very friendly. Breakfast was good and excellent location, near to attractions and transport I loved the history of the building and how it was developed into nice boutique hotel.

Cons: The steep steps 😂 and our upstairs neighbours couldn't sit stil...very annoying throughout our whole visit..

Hotel environment beautiful as was the room we stayed in.

Pros: Did not have breakfast, too expensive. Otherwise the hotel and room were fabulous.

Beautiful Romantic Saty in Gouda.

Pros: The Romantic Atmosphere. Fantastic service. We expected very Welcoming. Rooms good.

That said, WSHS is a wonderful place to stay and I would gladly return — but next time, I’ll likely skip the breakfast.

Pros: I recently stayed at WSHS in Gouda for the second time, having visited two years ago as well. I’m happy to say that the hotel remains just as beautiful and charming as I remember. The design is stunning, the atmosphere warm and inviting, and the staff are incredibly kind and welcoming — they truly make you feel at home.

Cons: However, I was quite disappointed with the breakfast this time. Unfortunately, it has noticeably declined in quality compared to my previous visit. At €25 per person, I expected a much higher standard. In fact, I believe there are more satisfying options available at a lower price in other, even more modest hotels. For the same amount, a visit to a local café or even Starbucks would have provided better value.

An amazing experience, beautiful surroundings and such amazing decor.

Pros: the location was excellent and the hotel was a converted traditional old Dutch building. Decor and attention to detail were next level.

Cons: I had to walk to the train station with my suitcase

Pros: The staff was amazing and we're very well received. Even before my stay, I received an excellent support through chat in order to plan a few surprises for my partner and they also helped me to book a dinner for our New Year's Eve. Everything was amazing but our experience was only that amazing because we had an excellent support by the staff. I really appreciated and recommend it. The room was super comfortable and the breakfast was supreme!

Pros: Breakfast was lovely, a nice selection of things, coffee and orange juice smashing. Michelin restaurant booking was made last minute and they kindly fitted us in; the experience was divine, a lovely treat for my husband’s birthday. Staff were very helpful and nothing was too much trouble

Cons: The only downside was during the early hours, my husband was woken by some industrial sounding banging which disturbed his sleep. I heard the noise twice but can sleep through most things. Not sure if the cause.

Perfect short romantic break.

Pros: Beautiful location, friendly staff. Food at breakfast and restaurant was outstanding. We loved it all.
