Sonnevanck Wijk aan Zee

We will be back :). Plus I started learning Dutch.

Pros: It is a great place for a person or family used to the modern urban environment. It is like a change of settings and relocation to the age of our grandparents plus an outstanding culinary experience. Not to forget the dunes and the North sea!

Pros: We liked the place right by the sea, and we walked barefoot from the beach to our room. Everything was clean, and we had a pleasant stay. The staff was very kind and helpful.

Cons: We are used to preparing our own meals at the accommodation, so having a microwave would have been ideal. The mattresses were a bit softer than what we're used to. We also had to (though reluctantly and we apologize) move the beds against the wall because our daughter is still small and could fall off the bed onto the floor during the night.

Pros: The shared toilet was always clean. Showers clean. Near to the beach.

Great for beach walking and visiting Haarlem.

Pros: Great location next to path through dunes to the beach. Nice food at breakfast at reasonable price. Easy walk into town with a selection of restaurants and a supermarket nearby. Clean, coffee and tea in room. Staff at reception in restaurant polite and helpful.

Cons: This was a very basic room (no TV and shared bathroom). Given the location and price, this was expected. Very steep stairs. Kitchen closes early, I could only order bar snacks (pommes / frites and chicken bites after 9pm).

Pros: Comfortable room, friendly and helpful staff. Great location. Delicious food and beer selection.

Cons: The pillows were huge. Not comfortable to sleep on.

Great location for both city and sea lovers

Pros: Location of the hotel: seaside and not far from the center... warm welcome from the whole staff, each and every time I had a question, it was answered with a smile, family atmosphere.

It is small, warm and cozy, felt like at home.

Pros: I like the location, the welcoming stuff, the cleanliness of toilets / showers, the comfy bed and modern but warm decoration of the place. I also would like to thank the hotel for the free upgrade of my room to a bigger one. It was a very nice surprise for me.

Cons: I did not like the smell of cigaratte in my room- apperantly someone smoked there before. Also could be better to have a small fridge in my room.

I would love to go back to this hotel

Pros: Beautiful hotel near the beach. Cosy rooms, very good food and drinks and really nice staff

Excellent short stay

Pros: The location was just a few hundred metres to the beach which was fantastic. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpfull always. We took two small dogs with us and they were made very welcome by the staff. Dogs allowed on the beach. The restaurant and bar was great with top quality food and prompt freindly service. The room was large enough and the bed very comfortable. There is a shower in the room but the two toilets are shared and on the landing. Perfect stay for a short seaside break.

Cons: Stairway to rooms very steep.

Pros: The restaurant and the food, the location, the staff were very friendly and welcoming

Cons: We could not leave the windows open. There was no net to hinder the flies coming in.
