Apartments Waterland

Pros: We liked the location in picturesque Monnickendam and in walking distance from some quality restaurants 👌 Also it has good public transport to Amsterdam what we used to go to the Rijks Museum and canal cruise. Other tourist attractions are all 10 to 20 minutes driving away from the Waterland apartment.

Cons: There the apartment is on the first floor the stairs are a little steep to navigate with suitcases and we are a elderly couple and no assistance was offered by the host. The kitchen and bathroom facilities were a little cramped to what we used to.

I hope to come back next year!

Pros: Beautiful layout and view, secure and clean, lovely hosts.

Fun stay in Monnickendam, nice place to visit, and Amsterdam, Edam and Volendam are all nearby.

Pros: The efficiency apartment is in a great location on the wateerfront of the fishing port with all the old Dutch sailing ships. We enjoyed seeing the ship masts from our apartment windows. This was a super active weekend in Monnickendam with maritime festivities with grill food and live music on the docks...three different disco locations. Evenings were totally quiet in our room. We slept very well, the mattresses are outstanding. The apartment is suitably furnished, compact, neat and clean. Joke met us on arrival and was very helpful. Parking in front was available, if you are lucky, which we were. Otherwise, free public parking is available nearby, less than 200 meters reached by crossing a footbridge from the street.

Cons: The efficiency was on the second floor and in Dutch houses the staircases are usually steep and narrow, which is an inconvenience for seniors (we are both over 85 years) with luggage. But we travelled light and could manage. The \

A lovely clean apartment in a brilliant location

Pros: Hosts were incredibly helpful, apartment clean & airy, perfect location for cycling, parked free outside every day, bike shed available too.

Monnickendam better than Amsterdam

Pros: Close to everything in monnickendam Very quiet. Good shower, comfortable bed. Great transport link.

Pros: Amazing location, regular buses (approx every 15mins) into Amsterdam, apartment was very clean and Joke was very welcoming! 🙂

Harbour Side Treasure…

Pros: On balance this has to be our favourite apartment ever. In the most beautiful setting, lots to look at out of the windows. An authentic Dutch town not overwhelmed by visitors, unlike some nearby. Easy to access and good communication with the owner. Chic, spacious, clean and comfortable. Lock up storage for our bikes so we could explore the beautiful countryside. Loved it.

Pros: We had a great time! The location is great: the flat is right on the harbour in a beautiful quiet village, yet only half an hour from Amsterdam by bus. The flat was clean, had everything one needs, and the hosts were friendly.

Great location

Pros: Excellent location with great cafes / restaurants just around the corner. Communication with owner is by phone but helpful . Modern bright clean well equipped apartment, though provision of an iron would be good. Comfortable bed and pillows. We would stay again.

Cons: These are just points to be aware of. As mentioned by others stairs are steep with narrow steps so not good if have mobility problems. The curtains do not block out all of the light and the windows are large so room is quite light at night .The quilts are very thick so we were too hot in bed - summer quilts would be better. No shower gel or shampoo for shower so you need to bring your own. There is handwash.
