Guest House Aan de Hollandse IJssel

The perfect stopover for me on my journey.

Pros: I picked this guesthouse as it was close to my route from the Hook of Holland ferry terminal to Northern Germany and I prefer to stay in guesthouses rather than large motels. It is a lovely quiet location and my only regret as that I was only stopping for the one night, so didn't have time to make the most of the facilities. The guesthouse was spotlessly clean throughout, with a crisp and modern feeling. Kees provided a wonderful explanation of the facilities on my arrival and there was a generous range of fresh produce provided at the appointed time for breakfast.

Cons: I honestly can't think of anything which could be improved.

Brilliant property

Pros: Beautiful property. The photos make the rooms seem smaller than they are - they are fine. Host was very attentive. Guests have choices of outside and indoor tables and settees. Beautiful garden area with play equipment. Right on the canal. Only stayed one night - wish we'd stayed longer.

Pros: We sat in the garden right on the canal, enjoying a drink & chat while watching the leisure boats go by. Beautiful

Pros: Everything - lovely hosts. Very comfortable and well appointed room with everything you need. Delicious breakfast and packed lunch. A wonderful situation on the river.

What an awesome weekend away for our little family!

Pros: Our hosts were extremely welcoming and so understanding and patient with our very active children. He even showed the children the property and let them feed the fish for him. It goes a long way to making a family feel comfortable when our children are welcomed, chaotic energy and all! Our daughter is usually very cautious when meeting new people, she took to them so quickly and was made to feel welcome immediately. We are beyond grateful, as travelling with small children can already be difficult so being comfortable from the beginning of our stay really went a long way to making it a great experience! We will definitely be back!

Beautiful location, great place to relax, amazing owners who take real care of their guests

Pros: The owners are an awesome couple who will do (almost) everything to make their guests happy. We had a problem, we let them know - and the problem was sorted. Never seen such a clean place, rooms were cleaned every day, towels changed almost too often.... We liked their kitchen, great coffee machine with free coffee of all sorts all day long. It is easy not to go out and just cook there - everything is available. Beautiful location, from there it is very easy to visit nice historic towns or cities like Gouda, Woerden, Utrecht....

Cons: Mosquitos + For those sensitive to noise, the rooms are not sound proof and you may hear the neighbors when they get up in the morning before you and do something in the kitchen. Not a big problem.

Great eye for detail, pleasant stay.

Pros: This place is very affordable for a quiet stay near Utrecht, which I needed to avoid a lot of travel time. The place has a real eye for detail and seems to have thought of all the small things that make you feel at home in your room. There are lots of things you won't normally find in hotels or guesthouses, like wet toilet tissues and washing cloths. The room wasn't very large (especially if you travel with 2 people), but it was good enough for a one-day stay.

Cons: The sexual innuendo when explaining the (complicated) coffee machine was a bit awkward. The invoice was sent by e-mail as an Excel file instead of a PDF. The walls are a bit thin, so you can hear some fellow guests that arrive late. The bathroom lights automatically turn off, be prepared to be surprised when you're having a moment on the toilet.

Definitely recommend, 10/10!

Pros: The host was very nice, welcoming and funny. The accommodation was very clean, modern, comfortable and in a quiet location.
