A blast from the past

Pros: The hostess was very friendly, welcoming and helpful! The place is very cozy and well decorated. Fun theme. Location is awesome. Wolf and Bear (the cats) were very sweet and affectionate. The breakfast is a feast! I think Wolf noticed us having trouble finishing it all so he tried to get some bites in... All in all a very lovely place I'd wholeheartedly recommend.

Cons: It can get a bit noisy but it was within expectation. The bathroom smells slightly funky.

SOEPP hotel

Pros: The SOEPP hotel is located in the heart of Alkmaar, a brisk 20 minute walk from Alkmaar train station. The room is actually a mini apartment, situated on the first floor, adjacent to the restaurant. Access is via a set of very narrow wooden stairs, which would be an issue for someone who has mobility problems. The room was wonderful, with a host of amenities including a kitchen, lounge and a spacious bedroom. This is the second time that I have stayed at this accommodation and I will definitely be going back next year, if work permits.

Cons: I did not experience any problems during my stay in Alkmaar.

Pros: An amazing and unique place to stay with huge amounts of character. With a lovely courtyard and entry thru a beautiful lane. Amazingly close to bars and main square - awesome location. Lovely staff. And had a fantastic breakfast. Would recommend for something that isn't just a plain hotel.

Great breakfast, very nice stuff. The restaurant is vegeterian :-)

Pros: Great place, enough space, not so suitable for handicapped people, you have to use stairs, but it wasn't our issue

Cons: A bit noisy street on Fridays and Saturdays, but nothing you might not handle

Pros: The atmosphere is fantastic! The staff are very friendly and all have bubbly personalities. The whole set-up was incredibly cute! Breakfast was exceptional!

I loved the experience of staying in a welcoming, historical place in a welcoming historical, beautiful city 🧡

Pros: Quirky, fascinating B&B in a beautiful 16th century building, lots of memorabilia, fabulous big breakfast, lovely friendly staff and very central - loved Soepp 🧡

Cons: For me it wasn’t a problem but the stairs up to the blue room are very steep and the floor creaky (which you would have to expect in such a historical building!), don’t let that put you off though, the experience of staying there more than compensated for any small inconveniences.

Pros: The charming apartment is situated in the heart of Alkmaar and within literally metres of all the attractions. The apartment was spotless and had all the usual amenities, including a washing machine. The owner also went out of her way to prepare lunch for me, due to the fact that I couldn't make breakfast due to an early appointment in nearby Bergen.

Cons: Nothing.
